Some of us use the dot character in the email address for various reasons such as to separate our first and last name or to make it read easier or whatever.
Gmail will ignore the dots you have in your email address. It doesn’t matter if your email is [email protected] or [email protected] google mail will see it the same and the email will be delivered to the correct recipient.
Google decided to ignore the dots to avoid delivering emails to the wrong recipient. This not new and it’s been like this for a long time.
Note: This rule don’t apply to Google Suite accounts. If you do have an organization account using Google Suite the dot does matter in your email account.
